We are reviewing how we provide community funding and grants and would like to have your input. Share your feedback below by 6 March.

Every year, we provide funding to local organisations and initiatives that help make Tasman a strong, connected, and resilient place to live, work and play. As these groups and communities evolve, so too must our funding approach.

We want to ensure our funding system is fair, transparent, easy to understand, and reflects what our communities need now and into the future. We are exploring ways to improve our processes and ensure funding is used more efficiently, without increasing the overall budget.

We want to hear your feedback whether you regularly apply for funding or have never applied before, your experience and insight matter.

Why we provide community funding

Community organisations play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of Tasman. They deliver services, activities, programmes, and community spaces that help make our district strong, resilient, and inclusive.

Council supports this work by providing grants, funding and subsidies to groups, volunteers and initiatives that contribute to community outcomes and local priorities, helping them to continue their valuable role in our communities.

Why we are reviewing our funding approach

Our current funding approach has developed over many years, and different processes have created complexity and inconsistency. Community groups have also evolved, and we want to ensure our funding approach is fair, accessible and future-focussed.

What we've heard from community groups:

What we are looking to improve

Council is exploring changes that would:

  • make funding processes consistent, fair, and transparent
  • align all funding with clear strategic outcomes
  • make it easier for community groups to understand and access funding
  • streamline application, assessment, and reporting requirements
  • introduce opportunities for multi-year funding for eligible organisations
  • ensure accountability is meaningful and reporting is clear
  • bring all funding information together in one place

No increase to the overall funding budget is being proposed as part of this review.
