Ghost markings to vanish.

We've been getting complaints about the "ghost markings" on Hill Street and Salisbury Road recently. These "ghost markings" are old line markings that have been painted over but still appear slightly visible to road users and have been causing some confusion in wet weather and at night.

We have now scheduled time to remove these markings on Hill Street, and we are currently locking in a time to do the same on Salisbury Road too.

We will be removing the markings between 116 and 178 Hill Street from Thursday 6 June and Friday 14 June, weather dependent. This work will be completed in six stages and requires manual traffic control between 9.00am and 3.00pm. The road will be open as normal outside of these hours.

Please follow the directions of our traffic management team and consider how these road works may impact your travel times.

This work is likely to cause some minor delays to the Route 1 eBus, so remember you can track your bus at https://ebus.nz/.

Work is underway.

We have to launched into one of the final projects in our Richmond Streets for People programme by creating a safer cycling and walking connection between Champion Road and Queen Street along Hill Street.

This is a multi-faceted project incorporating separated cycle lanes, a section of shared footpath and a new low speed 30 kilometre an hour zone where vehicles and cyclists share the roadway.

Most of the work only requires lane remarking so we're not anticipating widespread disruptions for road users.

This project dovetails nicely into the recently completed project to improve cycling and walking facilities in the adjacent William Street neighbourhood.
